This class includes the introduction to the basic use of the pottery wheel. This is a great opportunity for students to actually receive hands on experience! Classes on the pottery wheel emphasize technical, personal and individual development for future abilities in the art world. Students will complete a small pot of their own creation, glazed and fired. All supplies are furnished. Students will learn:
- Wedging
- Centering
- Pulling
- Decorating and Firing Clay

Imagine you are feeling something wet, spinning and spinning in a circle.
Can you hear the vibrating sound of the pottery wheel?
You can't smell the clay since it has no scent, but you can make shapes out it.
As I make my Indian bowl, I think how soft the clay is getting now.
Softer and smoother it becomes as I rub my fingers and sponge acrosss it.
I am done. I felt the piece again and thought what an accomplishment.
The pride I have in the beauty of my piece of pottery.
